  • Moonshine Old Fashioned

    Old Fashioned Moonshine

    Mmmm, moonshine!

Maybe it's our Tennessee roots that make us love moonshine. Maybe it's our memories of days gone by. Perhaps it's the stories that Eli shares about his days up in the holler. Regardless, moonshine is more versatile than many people realize.

We figured we'd prove that point with this cocktail - the Moonshine Old Fashioned.

By simply swapping out moonshine for bourbon with our Old Fashioned Cocktail Mixer, you'll have a delightful new spin on something old. We've chosen to garnish ours with a moonshine-soaked cherry, but if all else fails, skip the garnish and keep it simple.

    INGREDIENTS:

    2 oz. Moonshine

1 oz. Eli Mason Old Fashioned Cocktail Mixer

    Moonshine-Soaked Cherry for Garnish

Add moonshine and our Old Fashioned Cocktail Mixer to a cocktail mixing glass with ice. Stir to chill and strain into a glass (or drinkin' jar) with a couple of ice cubes. Garnish with cherry and serve.

  • Old Fashioned

We like to say our Old Fashioned Cocktail Mixer is like a bartender in a bottle.

It's like we found some magical formula to fit a muddler, cocktail shaker, bitters, cherries, orange and sugar cubes into one vessel. Well, in a way we did.

Even better, we added one other little secret: organic gum arabic. It's the key ingredient to our sought-after Gomme Syrup and adds an extra level of luxury to your Old Fashioned, imparting viscosity and a velvet-smooth mouth feel to your cocktail.

So save the time, effort and expense and simply mix with the bourbon or whiskey of your choice for a consistent, delicious Old Fashioned every time.

    INGREDIENTS:

    2 oz. Bourbon or Whiskey

1 oz. Eli Mason Old Fashioned Cocktail Mixer

Combine ingredients and pour over ice. See, wasn't that easy?

  • Old Fashioned Rum Toddy

    Old Fashioned Rum Toddy

Baby it's, like, really cold outside. When there's frost on your windowpanes, nothing warms you like a hot toddy.

It's a disarmingly simple drink (spirit + sweet/spice + hot water) but something special happens when you combine these elements in a glass with a citrus garnish.

We make ours with aged gold rum, our classic pomegranate-based Grenadine, and just a dash of our Old Fashioned cocktail mixer.

The aroma is spicy and bright. Perfect for sipping by the window with a good book.

    INGREDIENTS:

    1.5 oz. Gold Rum

.5 oz. Eli Mason Old Fashioned Cocktail Mixer

.5 oz. Eli Mason Classic Grenadine

    4 oz. Hot Water

Combine the rum and mixers in a heat-safe glass and top with the hot water. Garnish with orange.

  • The Third Layover

If you were to purchase the ingredients for this drink in their individual states/countries of origin, you would be stuck on a plane for 15 hours from Nashville -> Scotland -> Italy ... and that's just one way. Along about the third layover, you would likely go hunting for a strong, spirit-forward drink like this to blow away the cobwebs.

Thanks to globalization, you can now find these ingredients at your best local purveyor of fine spirits and ingredients.

But wouldn't that be a trip to remember?

    INGREDIENTS

    1.5 oz. Laphroaig Scotch

0.75 oz. Cocchi Vermouth di Torino

0.75 oz. Eli Mason Old Fashioned Cocktail Mixer

Combine all ingredients over ice and stir until very cold. Strain over an ice ball in a rocks glass and garnish with fresh rosemary.

  • Toronto by Tennessee

    Toronto by Tennessee

Let's keep this Fernet-love going. Like the Sevier Park Swizzle we posted a few weeks ago, the Toronto by Tennessee is an example of how adding one complex ingredient (in this case the bitter amaro Fernet-Branca) can yield an almost entirely new drink.

This one is bold and bitter, but our Old Fashioned mixer brings a touch of sweetness and helps combine these two disparate ingredients into one very satisfying sipper.

This is also a drink that's easy to customize to your taste by simply raising or lowering the amount of Fernet or Old Fashioned mixer. Experiment with your favorite Tennessee Whiskey to make this one your own.

    INGREDIENTS:

2 oz. Tennessee Whiskey (or Bourbon will suffice)

    .5 oz. Fernet-Branca

.25 oz. Eli Mason Old Fashioned Cocktail Mixer

Combine all ingredients over ice and stir until well chilled. Strain into chilled coupe and garnish with orange peel.

  • Whiskey Sevilla

    Whiskey Sevilla

Named for the oranges used in making marmalade, the Whiskey Sevilla is a refreshing take on the Old Fashioned. With fresh orange juice, marmalade, orange bitters and a vital pinch of sea salt, this cocktail is a flavorful ode to the citrus sinensis with a twist.

It's also a great opportunity to practice your dirty dump cocktail technique. Simply shake all ingredients with ice and dump the entire contents of the shaker into the glass. No straining required! Then educate your guests on this term and technique.

    INGREDIENTS

    2.0 oz. Bourbon

.75 oz. Eli Mason Old Fashioned Mixer

    0.5 oz. Orange Marmalade

    0.5 oz. Fresh Orange Juice

    2 dashes Orange Bitters

    Pinch of Sea Salt

Shake with ice and dump it all into a rocks glass. Garnish with orange twist.
